Two-thirds of Australians back doctors' call for 'health trigger' for coal, gas projects

 

Two-thirds of Australians support the federal government making new fossil fuel project approvals dependent on an assessment of their health impacts, according to new research by Doctors for the Environment Australia and the Australia Institute.

Global warming has increased the speed at which glaciers in Greenland are melting fivefold over the last 20 years, according to scientists from the University of Copenhagen. Greenland's ice melt is of particular concern, as the ancient ice sheet holds enough water to raise sea levels by at least 6 metres if it were to melt away entirely.

Some of NSW’s most prestigious locations have been identified at risk of coastal erosion in a new report, some under immediate threat and others under a cloud over the next 30 years.
