Emissions from Beetaloo gas grossly understated

New analysis by Climate Analytics shows onshore emissions of proposed fracking in the Beetaloo Basin are understated by up to 84%, stating these emissions are estimated to add up to 11% of Australia’s 2021 emissions.

A state of emergency has been declared in Vanuatu in the wake of cyclone Lola, with three reported dead and reports of extensive damage to agriculture, homes and infrastructure in the northern islands.

The UK government has added its name to a group of countries seeking a moratorium on new licences to exploit minerals such as lithium, copper and cobalt from the deep sea. Greenpeace UK's oceans campaigner Fiona Nicholls said: "The UK government's change of heart on deep sea mining shows the tide is turning against this destructive industry threatening some of the world's last undisturbed habitats."
