Woodside shares hit two-month low

Woodside Energy’s shares have hit a two-month low this week, largely due to the company flagging an asset impairment of around $1.2 billion for their Shenzi oil and gas fields. This occurs when a company’s asset has less profitability than originally reported. The company also flagged a reduction in oil and gas reserves at the Shenzi assets.

An investigation into the New South Wales asbestos contamination has become the Environmental Protection Agency’s biggest-ever probe with hundreds of sites potentially containing the dangerous material.

Both major parties are looking to make energy policy a key issue of their election campaigns, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expected to highlight the potential of renewables to power the economy in a speech later today, while the Coalition continues to focus on nuclear.
