# Queensland government promises an electric vehicle charger every 150 kilometres across the state

The Queensland government has promised to put an electric car charging station every 150 kilometres across the state, the ABC can reveal. The $42 million project will install an extra 2,500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations over three years
Almost half of the world's electricity could come from emissions-free sources such as wind, solar and nuclear by the end of the decade according to a report from the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Greenpeace East Asia has released its annual auto ranking, where it ranks the world’s biggest carmakers according to how much progress they’ve made on phasing out pure combustion engines from their line-ups and whether they are decarbonising their production and shipping processes. Ranking 15 of the world’s biggest car companies, the study placed Mercedes-Benz and BMW in the top two positions, with Chinese giant SAIC (which owns MG and a range of other brands) placing third.
