Gas a roadblock to net zero: new report

A new report has revealed getting households off gas for heating and cooking would cut energy bills and improve people’s health, and is necessary for Australia to have any hope of reaching net zero greenhouse emissions by 2050. The analysis is calling on governments to help households and businesses transition to all-electric.

Oil, gas and coal representatives will have to disclose their industry ties at future climate meetings, the UN says. The new rules will be in place for the COP28 summit in November in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, one of the world's top oil producers.

Protesters say they’re worried their messages will get lost and people will be put off joining movements following a wide-spread crackdown on protesting across Australia.
