Decision to come on controversial mining lease

A trio of judges will soon deliver a decision over a controversial mining lease that protesters say was made only to block them from a key access road in the Tarkine, where their concerted protest against a proposed tailings dam continues to unfold.

Fire authorities are warning up to 80% of the Northern Territory could burn this fire season - which is why dozens of Indigenous ranger groups across 12 Indigenous Protected Areas have been hard at work in an unprecedented collaboration to reduce the fuel load before summer.

And in a new report, the UN Child Rights Committee says that climate change is affecting children's rights to life, survival and development - in doing so outlining new guidelines for UN countries to follow in protecting children from climate change.
