Thousands of Labor members take climate challenge to Albanese

350 branches of the Labor party have proposed formal motions calling for greater action on climate change from the Albanese Labor government, urging, among other things, the winding back of land clearing and native forest logging.

AGL energy has pulled out of a major fossil fuel advocacy and lobby group, the Australian Pipeline and Gas Association, under the leadership of Mike Cannon-Brookes and the company’s pivot to ambitious green goals.

And representatives from civil society all around the Pacific have proposed the Kato Climate Fund, a climate finance mechanism designed “by and for Pacific communities,” aiming to overcome the bureaucratic red tape that is common with international climate finance.
