Santos’ fifth safety incident off WA coast exposed

Safety concerns have yet again forced regulators to step in at Santos’ Pilbara operations, with 10 gas platforms in a state of dangerous disrepair and evidence the company had identified problems but done little to fix them. 

Australia’s energy regulator has predicted mainland states will exceed their energy capacity by 2030 and called for urgent and ongoing investment in renewable energy ahead of federal, state, and territory energy ministers meeting on Friday.

And a new report has found Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland are among the top 10 per cent of global jurisdictions most at risk from the physical impacts of climate change.
