Resources minister urges mining and gas companies to back Voice

Resources Minister Madeleine King has urged mining and gas companies to get behind the Indigenous Voice to parliament, saying they have a unique responsibility to correct the wrongs of the past. King said the resources sector had made “extraordinary and devastating mistakes” in their interactions with First Nations, and had also misled Australians about native title laws through "inflammatory and racist" advertisements.

Staying with the resources sector, the corporate regulator says it is “monitoring” legal action brought against gas giant Santos by the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility as part of its action against misleading environmental disclosures.

And Australian households are expected to save $230 on their energy bills in the next financial year due to wholesale price falls recorded after Labor’s electricity market intervention. Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the saving is a sign the government’s plan to cap prices is ‘starting to make a difference’.
