# Morrison government full of climate-wrecking gas

Following Scott Morrison’s “jig” to celebrate the toxic Scarborough gas project, the federal government is set to release a national gas investment framework spelling out plans to grow and support the fossil fuel.
Support for a stronger 2030 emissions reduction target fell from 57 per cent to 49 per cent over the past month, according to a nationwide survey, but one-third of voters still believe the federal government should do more on climate policy.
This follows Australia’s dismal climate record coming under the spotlight around COP26, with a fresh round of international criticism levelled at Scott Morrison and his government.

The Morrison government will work to open up at least one new gas basin by the end of the decade and potentially pump millions of dollars into gas infrastructure projects as part of its efforts to shore up the nation’s energy supply.
