# It’s an existential Groundhog Day as transport drives another quarterly emissions spike

New national emissions data for the March quarter reveals climate pollution rose by 1.5 per cent, yet again largely driven by transport, showing the need for a revved up commitment to fuel efficiency standards.
Common ground has been forged between the ACTU and the Business Council on policy asks ahead of today’s jobs and skills summit, including the establishment of an authority to support coal and gas workers through the clean energy transition.
And the UN’s weather agency is officially predicting a "triple-dip" La Nina, stressing we must view the current extreme weather conditions in the context of human-induced climate change.
