Independents push for ‘absolute cap’ under Safeguard Mechanism

Independent MPs are pushing the government to include an 'absolute cap' or an explicit objective that emissions must come down under the safeguard mechanism. MPs Allegra Spender, Zali Steggall and senator David Pocock are calling on Labor to limit total emissions up until 2030. 

The corporate watchdog ASIC is investigating a number of superannuation funds for greenwashing under consumer protection laws.

Sir David Attenborough has warned that “nature is in crisis” but says he’s still optimistic about the future because “we have the solutions”.
