# First Nations groups fear destruction of Burrup rock art

West Australian Premier Mark McGowan announced at a sod turning for Perdaman's new urea plant yesterday that it would be the last facility of its kind built on the world heritage nominated Burrup peninsula. However, this project will come at a cost to the preservation, protection and promotion of Indigenous heritage and culture.
The Albanese government will extend its price cap on wholesale gas prices until at least mid-2025 in an attempt to limit soaring energy costs, and plans to offer exemptions for producers in the domestic market if they can deliver enforceable promises to maintain a certain level of supply. The price limit extension is part of the final consultation planned for a mandatory code of conduct for the gas industry, released on Monday.
Traditional Owners in New South Wales and the Northern Territory have also made human rights complaints against Australia's top superannuation companies over investments in gas producer Santos. The complainants say 20 funds have failed to prevent harmful human rights impacts by investing members' money in Santos' Barossa and Narrabri gas projects.
