Dead greater glider halts NSW logging

The state-owned New South Wales forestry agency has been ordered to immediately stop logging in parts of the Tallaganda state forest after the Environment Protection Authority found a dead greater glider – an endangered species – nearby.

Fifty protesters gathered on the steps of parliament yesterday as part of a campaign to stop proposed hydrogen production from Latrobe Valley coal, and are seeking an assurance from the Victorian government that it will not provide the project with further investment.

Greens leader Adam Bandt says the Albanese government is ‘hellbent on opening more coal and gas mines’ and people must ‘fight back’, encouraging Australians to embrace civil disobedience and join in on disruptive climate protests.
