Coral scientist rings alarm on Reef bleaching on eve of Unesco monitoring session

One of the world’s leading coral scientists claims a sixth mass bleaching event is unfolding across the Reef on the eve of the 10-day Unesco monitoring mission. 

Bundaberg mayor and former Queensland LNP minister Jack Dempsey says the Morrison Government is “obsessed by coal” and voters in his region “oppose coal” and don’t want new mines. 

A new study of satellite data shows changes in ozone-depleting gases in the atmosphere following the Black Summer fires, suggesting the increasing frequency of wildfires due to climate change may delay the recovery of ozone levels.
