Climate protest causes evacuation of Woodside HQ

Two thousand Woodside employees were evacuated from the company’s headquarters in Perth after a faux gas leak organised by those campaigning against its $50 billion Burrup Hub projects. This is the latest in a long series of actions against Woodside and its plans to prolong and expand gas production on the Burrup Peninsula near Karratha in WA’s northwest.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) has added a plug-in hybrid electric heavy-duty fire truck to its fire and rescue fleet - the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere. The new fire truck operates with a fully electric drive, backed up by diesel capacity to be used only in the event of increased operational demand.

And, new footage of what could be the world's only albino giant panda has been released by a nature reserve in China's Sichuan province. Estimated to be between five and six years old, this is only the second time the panda has been spotted with the last sighting in 2019.
