Climate bill on verge of passing Senate, now the work begins

Labor’s climate change bill is poised to pass the upper house today after the government agreed to independent senator David Pocock’s proposals to improve accountability and transparency. 

After years of climate inaction and rising emissions, Australia’s parliamentarians have come together to tackle the most important issue of our times, but now the hard work begins and there is a lot of catching up to do. 

Greens leader Adam Bandt will today outline that the Greens are ready to work with the government to reform the emissions safeguard mechanism, but only if the changes deliver real cuts from coal and gas.
