Waves pounded the east coast over the weekend, hitting homes, washing away beaches and even covering the famous promenade at Bondi Beach. But despite climate damage lapping at the very doorstep of millions of Australians, analysis of the recent budget reveals scant spending on climate mitigation.

The next report from the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which focuses on climate mitigation, has been delayed - scientists are pushing for the report to call for a comprehensive and swift end to fossil fuels, while governments are pushing back.
